Mission: PNG

Rod Dean is accompanying Mark Latham on a trip to PNG from August 2 to 17th. Mark has made many trips to PNG, and has been developing the local leadership there. One of the highlights of the trip will be the ordination of two local leaders, Ben and Richard.

Rod and Mark will be going to Port Moresby, Goroka and Mt Wilhelm in the highlands.

Rod has listed the following as aims of the trip, with the theme of “Strengthening Foundations”:

  • Conduct church services
  • Ordination of Ben and Richard. This will be a major event involving representatives from other churches.
  • Meet representatives from the new Ramu Valley congregation: determine if they need help with English to assist communication. Discuss with Ben and representatives how they can be supported in their growth. Purchase some Bibles for them.
  • Decision on how to complete the church's Housman: two single story or stabilize the second story.
  • Take up resources for church teaching.
  • Attend various pastoral team meetings.
  • Evaluate various projects and look at future needs.

Please pray for Rod and Mark as they embark on this trip – for their safety, for God’s blessing, and for guidance that they might best discern how to continue to support the PNG church so that they are encouraged to grow in Christ and share their faith.
